The UK Team at the Berlin Open 22.11.07 13:50 Age: 244 days The British Team sent 7 players to the Berlin Open with hopes of shaking up the tournament. Gill Dabeck, who looked a strong player throughout the tournament reached the ladies' final, making the whole team very proud.
In the ladies competition, the titleholder Kerstin Klante from Hamburg, Gill Dabeck from Liverpool, Alexandra Fuchs and Swantje Bechstein both from Berlin dominated in the group matches and met in the semi finals. Kerstin pipped Swantje 17:15 and 16:11 and Gill beat Alex after three sets winning 16:6, 13:16 and 16:14. In the ladies final, Kerstin defended her title against Gill and although we saw a fantastic performance from our young Brit, Kerstin retained her title 16:9, 10:16 and 16:7.
The GB Team entrants were Andrew & Adrian Low, Matt & Alex Bergh and Matt Finn in the men's singles, Gill Dabeck in the ladies' singles competition and John Dabeck competed in the senior tournament.
This was the last big European Tournament this year and what a great ending to a great year for Speedminton!
