and is new title sponsor!

The European Speedminton Championships 2008 have been saved by the Federation of Small Businesses.

Due to unforeseen circumstances our title sponsor for the event folded leaving us with a shortfall in funds for the event. However, we have now secured a new title sponsor, the Federation of Small Businesses. Concrete Leisure has been a member of the Federation of Small Businesses for two years and feel and the FSB has always been a great help. When the FSB heard that we were experiencing problems, they stepped in to save the event.

A great deal of help was also received from Liverpool Active City, who are now the official sponsors for the junior tournament “Creating Champions 08”.

And finally, Speedminton UK would like to say a huge thank you to Joe Twamley, the manager of the Liverpool Tennis & Athletics Centre, who reduced the price of the Tennis Centre to ensure that the event can still run smoothly.

Norman Lay, Regional Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, (FSB), and Liverpool FSB Branch Chairman Chris Burgess are both delighted to be involved with the Speedminton event.

Chris Burgess said, "Sports activities in Liverpool, like small businesses, are part of the backbone of community life. This event will be a great showcase for a new sport that is already being enjoyed in numerous schools across the region and which is introducing a new generation to the benefits of sport and fitness. The Federation of Small Businesses is delighted to be able to support this truly European event in our Capital of Culture year ".
