On the 26th of September around 40 Athletes from 3 Nations assembled to compete in the British Open in Liverpool. The atmosphere was great and the tournament went smoothly through the group stages with an official lunch break at 1.30. After regaining strength the remaining players of the group stages fought hard to secure their place in the finals.
Alexandra Sananes from France and Majorie Laborde also from France entered the female finals of the tournament to create a full French Ladies Final. In the end Majorie Laborde won in three straight sets over Alexandra to secure her title as British Champion.
The male final was set to be all British. Alex Bergh the winner of the Wirral Open in 2007 met Matt Finn and these two fought an exciting final with Alex Bergh winning with two games against Matt who secured the second game for himself.
The Federation of Small Businesses as the proud sponsor and Concrete Leisure as the organiser were very pleased with the outcome. The whole was a great experience for all players and spectators and it was a pleasure to see so many foreign players making the effort to come to the UK to compete. An especial big thank you to France who sent 14 Players to play!
Thanks again to all participants and of course a big we love you to the FSB for without them the tournament would not have been what is was…… a huge success!!! |
